When it comes to plowing snow around an automotive dealership, a utility work machine can be much more valuable than a truck with a front plow, according to David Weaver, president of Wheeling Automotive Group, Wheeling, W.Va.

“We used a truck with a plow and it just wasn’t handy,” says Weaver. “It was too big for a car lot. When you have someone trying to maneuver it down the rows of cars, you run the risk of damage to a new car. In addition, the truck wasn’t cost-effective because it was parked most of the year.”

Then Weaver discovered the Toolcat™ utility work machine. “It has all the things I was looking for,” he says.

During winter the 5600 is able to easily maneuver around Weaver’s car lots. He saves time by not having to move cars prior to plowing and doesn’t have to have someone come in and move loads of snow to another location. As a result, his lots are free of snow and ready for customers by 9 a.m. instead of 10 or 11 a.m.

At other times of the year Weaver uses the 5600 with pallet forks to move old engines, transmissions and other car parts.

“I really purchased the machine because I thought it would be handy for plowing snow,” he says, “but I have found plenty of other uses for it.”
