New Telescopic Tool Carriers Have More Lifting Ability

VersaHandler

V723

Two new telescopic tool carriers (TTC)—the VersaHandler® V723 and the V723FL—offer more lifting ability than previous models while keeping the same compact size.

The V723 replaces the V623. The V723FL (frame level), which allows the operator to level the machine on uneven ground, replaces the V623FL.

Lengthening the wheel base of the new models by 4 in. has boosted their rated load capacities to 7,000 lb. Each machine can lift these loads as high as 23 ft. Their ability to lift heavier loads higher and reach farther than skid-steer loaders, and other compact equipment, make them ideal for a wide variety of material handling jobs. These include construction, industrial and municipal applications as well as landscaping, agricultural and rental markets.

In addition to enhanced lifting performance, the two new VersaHandler models have been improved in other ways:

• Better serviceability

“We’ve modified the machines slightly to make them more service friendly,” says Marty Miller, VersaHandler product manager. “The radiator and oil cooler are of a one-piece design for simpler, more efficient cleaning.”

• More efficient cooling system

Smaller holes in the screen over the radiator air intake help keep large debris out of the engine basket and from plugging the radiator. Efficiency of the cooling system has been improved by a one-piece combination radiator/oil cooler and a relocated, double element air cleaner canister. Also, there’s room for a pre-cleaner device which can extend air filter life in dirty conditions.

• Tier II compliant engine

The new VersaHandler TTC models are equipped with liquid-cooled Perkins diesel engines that meet new federal Environmental Protection Agency exhaust emission requirements for off-road equipment.

• Choice of frame level and operator compartment

The V723FL can be equipped with an open canopy or a fully-enclosed, climate-controlled cab with heating and air conditioning. The V723 has a climate-controlled cab.

Both the V723 and the V723FL retain the features of previous models that add to their performance and ease of operation. They include:

  • A light, rigid, unitized frame for better stability and reduced flex which allows them to lift as much as heavier machines in their class.
  • A side-mounted engine which provides better visibility to the side and rear, and more convenient servicing.
  • Easy multi-function operation using a single loader-style hydraulic joystick for boom and bucket functions, and convenient thumbwheels extend and retract the boom and operate auxiliary hydraulic functions. In addition, a single lever selects forward and reverse drive as well as high and low speed ranges.
  • A simple-to-use, heavy-duty industrial hydrostatic transmission with dynamic braking, inching capabilities, and on-the-fly shifting between low and high travel speed ranges.
  • Three steering modes: All-wheel steer for a tight turning radius; frontwheel steer for road travel up to 18 mph; and crab-steer for moving the machine from side to side.
