Contractor Wins Toolcat Challenge Contest

Marc Williams

Marc Williams won the “Toolcat Challenge” and received a year’s use of a 5600.

Marc Williams, a Fountain Hills, Ariz., contractor, took first place in the “Toolcat Challenge,” a national contest sponsored by Bobcat Company and “Compact Equipment” magazine. He received a year’s use of a Toolcat™ 5600.

Williams was one of eight contestants selected from an original field of more than 6,000 to compete at the Big Iron Show in Fargo, N.D. The final competition involved performing a variety of tasks with a 5600 simulating those done in landscaping, construction and farm work, testing skill in lifting objects, such as logs, rocks, and hay bales, and maneuvering in confined spaces.

While competitors were attempting to complete the tasks within time limits, heavy rain soaked the course and mud became a factor in the contest. But it didn’t slow down the 5600. In fact, contest organizers say it leveled the competition since some competitors were more experienced in equipment operation than others.

Landscaper Chris Zytowski, Jacksonville, Fla., received the second-
place prize—a $1,000 gift certificate for Bobcat® products. Tom LaGesse, a dairy and turkey farmer from Bloomer, Wis., took home a $500 gift certificate for third place. In a separate team competition, Williams was awarded first place along with contractor John Fuog of Purcellville, Va. The two competed as the “construction team,” and each took home a $500 certificate for their joint-winning effort.

Ronald Wisehart, a contestant from Almo, Ky., thought there was a bright side to the weather. “Competing in the rain really added to the list of experiences that a person would encounter if operating a Toolcat machine on a daily basis,” he says. “It is one of the most versatile and useful machines that I have ever operated. It is everything it is hailed to be and more.”

“Everyone was wonderful,” says Fuog, co-winner of the team competition.“The Bobcat organization and everyone associated with the company has something magical about them. I can’t speak more highly of any other company or organization. The eight people chosen were truly a slice of America. We made new friends and will always remember this experience.”
