Taking care of business for Pat Nichter means spending the day grading in her Bobcat® T300 compact track loader.

The owner of TCB (“Taking Care of Business”) Grading, LaGrange, Ky., and her eight employees specialize in a wide range of excavating jobs. They work for several home builders in the Louisville area.

“The T300 is the best machine ever invented,” says Nichter, who owns several Bobcat loaders (both skid-steer and track). “The combination of power and low ground disturbance has really improved our production efficiency. We can get a lot done in a day and we don’t have to deal with repairing damaged property. The T300 can cross driveways and sidewalks without causing any problems.”

A longer work season is another benefit of the compact track loader. “Soft, wet and muddy ground doesn’t stop us from working,” she says. “The T300 can handle just about any weather conditions. Traction is super.”

Nichter started her company in 2000 after working 20 years in real estate. “Members of my family have always operated heavy equipment,” she says. “I wanted to give it a try, too. I saw an opportunity in the grading business and looked around for the best equipment available. My research showed that most people rated Bobcat products number one.”Although she had never driven a loader when she began her business, Nichter quickly became proficient. “Bobcat equipment is so easy to operate—comprehensive training materials, convenient controls and a helpful dealer turned me into a real good operator quite fast.”

For Nichter one of the ingredients of being a good operator is creativity. “I prefer finish grading as it allows me to be creative,” she says. “Of course, the T300 provides a big boost to creativity—and productivity—because of the exceptional power it delivers to the grading site. It has made my job a hundred times easier.”
