Spring 2003

Seeing is believing

For years, groundskeepers and maintenance managers of large commercial, municipal and private properties have used loaders, pickup trucks and attachment carriers to save time and labor. If you wanted to benefit from the best features of each, you had to buy and maintain three separate machines.

Not any more. Not when you can simplify your work with the revolutionary new Toolcat™ 5600. Made by Bobcat Company—the undisputed leader in developing and producing innovative compact equipment—the 5600 will complete your work like no other machine can.

This four-wheel drive, all-wheel steer machine will quickly carry you, a co-worker and supplies from one worksite to another. You can also pull trailers or implements. Once on the job, you can use the 5600’s turf-friendly, tight-turning maneuverability and a wide choice of Bobcat® approved attachments to tackle all kinds of work. The 5600 is designed to out-lift, out-pull and out-haul other equipment in its class size. It’s an entirely new concept.

Built for hard work

Powered by a 44 hp Kubota diesel engine, the Toolcat 5600 will haul a 2,000-lb. load in the cargo box and dump it with two hydraulic cylinders. It provides a total rated capacity of 4,200 lb.—the combined weight of the load on the lift arm, cargo box load, operator, passenger and tow weight.
Powerful pulling and pushing abilities

The combination of the high axle torque, produced by the 5600’s two-speed hydrostatic transmission and its four-wheel drive, gives you the power to fill buckets, pull heavy implements and push large amounts of material.

Excellent lifting performance

The single lift arm on the 5600 can lift a 1,500-lb. load up to 7-ft.-high and offers the reach to dump into many sizes of trucks and containers.

Great suspension

The suspension gives a better ride and allows the axles to oscillate. This keeps all four tires on the ground for more pushing force. It also lets you adjust down pressure on attachments without lifting the front wheels off the ground. The suspension even gives the Toolcat 5600 the unique ability to turn and maneuver with an attachment on the ground.

Turf-friendly

Since all-wheel steer allows the axles to share the steering angle and because of differentials in each axle, the 5600 can turn sharply on grass and other surfaces with little or no damage. Plus, its 17-ft. turning diameter makes for fast, easy maneuvering in tight spaces.

Amazing versatility

You can easily mount a variety of Bobcat attachments to the front of the Toolcat 5600 using the Bob-Tach™ mounting system. Also, the hitch on the rear is a 2-in. receiver system to match hitch styles and offset to the trailer or implement. All of these features, coupled with the rear cargo area, make the machine ideal for such markets as parks, public works, schools, hospitals, golf courses, nurseries, landscape and livestock operations.

Easy to operate

Press the drive pedal and the variable speed control finds the exact speed you need. The cruise control and digital speedometer make it easy to repeat and keep a set speed for jobs such as mowing and spreading sand. To go forward, shift the drive control lever forward. For reverse, pull it back. There’s no clutch. Once underway, you can shift between high and low range on-the-fly. And, the 5600 will move you along at up to 18 mph in high range.

Big on comfort

The tilt steering wheel, drive and brake pedals and the hydraulic joystick with float feature for controlling the loader functions are easy to reach and operate. The excellent visibility includes a clear view of instrumentation, front attachments and all around the outside of the machine. There is a comfortable suspension seat for the operator. You can also order an enclosed cab with heater and air conditioning.

Many safety features

You’ll also appreciate the 5600’s many safety features, like the rollover and falling object protective structure (ROPS and FOPS), four frontmounted work lights and lap and shoulder belt restraints for the operator and passenger. The Toolcat Interlock Control System (TICS™) locks out the joystick controls and applies the parking brake when the armrest on the driver’s side is raised. In addition, the hydrostatic transmission slows the
machine when you release the drive pedal. The machine also has a separate brake pedal.
