Rental Customers Prefer a Bobcat Loader Backhoe

B100

B100 loader backhoe is a popular unit at EZ Rent-It.

Ronnie Baker, who owns EZ Rent-It, Natchez, Miss., has been in the rental business for 25 years. He knows equipment, including compact loader backhoes, and what it costs him if they don’t measure up to the job.

“When I first saw a Bobcat® loader backhoe, I knew it was a quality piece of equipment,” he says. “It’s an impressive machine.”

That explains why he was the first in Mississippi to buy a Bobcat loader backhoe, a B100 model.

Baker likes the way the machine is built.

“Unlike other small loader backhoes I’ve owned, the hydraulic lines on the B100 are steel except for several short rubber pieces where the lines have to flex,” he explains. “If a rubber line should break, I can simply replace a short section. I won’t have to take the machine apart and snake the line all the way through the loader. Also, the cheaper hydraulic cylinders on other compact loader backhoes were constantly leaking. I don’t have that problem with the B100.”

He can also count on continued Bobcat Company and dealer support for his machine.

“The manufacturer of one of the small loader backhoes I once owned went out of business and I couldn’t get parts for it any longer,” Baker says. “I know Bobcat Company will be here today and tomorrow.”

However, what counts for his customers is performance. Here again, the B100 shines.

“When contractors and homeowners come in for a small loader backhoe, they ask for the Bobcat machine,” Baker says. “I can hardly rent out the other brand that I have.”

He reports his customers like the powerful Kubota engine, simple operation, easy maneuverability and spacious, smooth-riding cab of the B100. They make the most of these features using the B100 for jobs ranging from digging foundations and septic systems to placing landscape mulch. They also like the lower rental rate compared to large tractor-loaderbackhoes.

Like the other Bobcat equipment—skid-steer loaders and excavators—which Baker also rents, he plans to stay with Bobcat loader backhoes. “I really like the B100,” he says. “I’m glad I bought it.”
