By constantly researching and implementing new technologies we’re able to reduce our costs, work load and response times,” says Mike Brand, owner of Brand Property Management, Little Silver, N.J. That’s why the company was one of the first to buy the Toolcat™ 5600 utility work machine. Brand Property Management provides a wide range of property management and maintenance services for condominium and apartment complexes and commercial and industrial facilities throughout central New Jersey. The company prides itself on using new and innovative approaches to meet the many challenges it faces on a day-to-day basis. The versatile Toolcat 5600 quickly proved to be a smart choice for doing just that.

Brand Property Management bought the machine from Garden State Bobcat, Freehold, N.J. The firm took delivery in February, just before a big blizzard hit, burying the area under about 2 ft. of snow.

“We bought it to handle the many tasks that arise on a daily basis,” says Brand. “We had no idea how essential it would become for snow removal. The Toolcat 5600’s performance during that massive snow storm amazed us all.”

It was pressed into duty after a plow-equipped dump truck broke down. The 5600 was used with a 7-ft. Bobcat® snow blade attachment and bucket to clean about 8 acres of parking areas and roads at an apartment complex.

“We used the snow blade to push the snow and switched to the bucket to stack the snow in neat piles,” Brand says. “We did it all in the comfort of the enclosed, heated cab.”

Later, the 5600, equipped with a Bobcat angle broom attachment cleaned up the remaining sand and salt from the pavement.

Brand notes some of the features which enhance the machine’s performance:

All-wheel steer agility

“The tight turning radius is very helpful,” he says. “It’s better than any truck we’ve had, especially when maneuvering in tight areas and around cars in parking lots. Plus, if necessary, the 5600 can lift the snow blade above a car, which saves a lot of time.”

Compact size

The 5600 was also able to work where trucks couldn’t fit, such as on sidewalks. That eliminated the labor to operate a slower, walk-behind snowblower.

Versatile skills

The ability to fit into tight spaces and to lift the blade and bucket also paid off in finding places to put all the snow. “We were able to tuck it into tight areas and pile it high,” Brand says.

Great visibility

The cab, Brand points out, offers a clear view all around, a real benefit when working near people and cars.

Speedy results

Brand figures that the Toolcat 5600 finished the snow removal job in half the time compared to using a truck and snowblower.

The new Bobcat utility work machine is doing more than just saving time and labor, according to Brand. It’s also improving the company’s ability to provide prompt, dependable service to clients. “What’s good for our customers,” he says, “is good for our business.”
