Compact Track Loader Excels Where Other Equipment Can’t Work
John Watson
John Watson typically uses his Bobcat® compact track loader two days a week. Nevertheless, he says, this powerful machine more than pays for itself.
“I use my T200 where it fits best—spreading topsoil and building contours and mounds,” says the owner of John Watson Excavation, American Fork, Utah. “No other equipment works nearly as well. My T200—even with limited use—is extremely valuable.”
Watson and three employees do custom grading for homebuilders, often working in the mountains around Salt Lake City. He says his track loader is the only machine that can hold firm on some of the slopes.
“Once the street is built, I have to work up from the bottom of the slope,” he says. “I couldn’t do these projects with my 763 skid-steer loader or any other equipment. The track loader is ideal for this type of work. I wouldn’t want to be without it.”
At times Watson spreads tons of topsoil with his compact track loader.
“It’s very productive, even when working in wet conditions,” he says. “On one project I had three trucks delivering 120 yards per hour to the jobsite. Using only the T200 I was able to spread the soil fast enough to keep up with the trucks.”
Watson says his compact track loader, with its enclosed cab equipped with heat and air conditioning, is a pleasure to operate. “Not only is the cab a great work environment, but the unique Bobcat track system produces a very smooth ride,” he says. “It makes working more productive and more enjoyable.”
