Mini Track Loader Helps Landscape Contractor Break New Ground

While looking for a way to facilitate and expand the capabilities of his one-person landscape and garden business, Mark Venn found exactly what he wanted—the Bobcat® MT50 mini track loader.

“It fits my business strategy perfectly because it enables me to continue to provide a compact, personalized service to my customers,” says the owner of Viewscape Visions, North Saanich on lower Vancouver Island, British Columbia.

“Even though the MT50 is relatively small in size, it has all the power I need to push, shovel and lift,” says Venn. “It’s so compact that it fits through gates and travels over lawns without leaving time-consuming repairs behind.”

Venn also likes the inching and crawling capability the auxiliary hydraulics provide. “It was a major selling feature for me since I aware that it is often listed as an option with other equipment.”

Ease of operation is another of the MT50’s many strengths. “It’s absolutely fantastic,” says Venn. “The controls are placed logically and there is no wrist stress when using them. They work very smoothly. The machine turns beautifully. It’s a real pleasure to operate.

“The Bobcat tiller and landplane attachment combination works like a dream and is ideal for larger lawns even where there are rocks and tree roots,” says Venn. “The weight of the landplane and the MT50 provides just the right amount of compaction to eliminate the need to roll the ground prior to seeding. No more back-breaking hand raking!”

The landplane, which Venn says is his favorite attachment (so far), is very versatile. He uses it for projects ranging from breaking up hard, compacted ground with its drop-down teeth, to leveling soils, to grading gravel driveways. Venn even uses it to prepare his sub-base and aggregate base for concrete interlocking paver projects. “I can get the grade just right, even in tight areas.

“The appearance of the MT50 on its trailer behind my truck and its performance on the jobsite sure helps promote my vision of professionalism and will no doubt serve me well in the future.”
