Easy Servicing Makes Loader Special
Kevin Fisher
Dairy producer Kevin Fisher has plenty to do managing his Tri-Hickory Farm near Botkins, Ohio. With a 150-head Holstein herd and 300 acres of cropland, he appreciates anything that helps reduce his workload.
That's why the easy serviceability of his S175 Bobcat® skid-steer loader, purchased from Bobcat of Lima, makes the machine so well-suited for his farm.
Begin with the easy-to-reach engine. All he has to do is swing open the tailgate to check engine fluids, fills, drains, filters, battery, air cleaner and other items. The transversely-mounted engine means the radiator or oil cooler does not get in the way.
Cleaning the oil cooler and radiator is easy. Just tip up the oil cooler and slide it out to remove dust and debris.
Quick access to hydraulic and hydrostatic components is also simple. Remove two nuts and tip back the operator cab, and you can begin working.
Compared to the other brand of loader he has serviced, Fisher prefers doing the regular maintenance on his S175.
Kevin Fisher's S175 moves feed for his dairy herd.
"On the other machine I had to lay on the ground to change oil," says Fisher. "The oil would run down my arm. To change the oil filter I had to flip the seat up and nearly stand on my head to get at the filter. With the Bobcat loader I can change oil wearing good clothes.
"If a person has to lay on the ground you are not as likely to service your machine as often. Because servicing my Bobcat loader is easy, I do it regularly. As a result, I get the most out of the machine and avoid costly breakdowns."
Fisher relies on his S175 for a number of chores. "We use it every day," he says. "It's a dependable, good all-round machine. By taking good care of the loader it's always available to help reduce our workload."
