GPS Technology and Digital Data Combine to Improve Equipment Management and Security
The GPS system allows you to monitor the location of your equipment.
Now you can combine the pinpoint accuracy of the satellite-based global
positioning system (GPS) with the lightning-fast speed of computerized data
communications to keep a close eye on your Bobcat® equipment 24 hours a day.
The GlobalTRACs system identifies both the location of your Bobcat machines and their operating status instantly or at regular pre-set intervals. This complete equipmentmanagement system helps speed recovery of stolen equipment, reduces the time needed to find different pieces of equipment
spread over a large area and improves your ability to schedule maintenance.
The dealer-installed system can be used on all Bobcat equipment, including
skid-steer, all-wheel steer and compact track loaders, loader backhoes,
excavators, the Toolcat™ utility work machine and utility vehicles. It is supported by Qualcomm, Inc., a world-wide leader in wireless communications.
The GlobalTRACS system uses a rugged receiver/transmitter mounted on the machine which receives GPS information and feeds it along with engine hour
data and operational status to your computer using state-of-the-art digital network services. You can also integrate the system into your existing office operations, billing and maintenance software.
It’s ideal for contractors, rental store managers and others who want to monitor their equipment fleet close-ly regardless of location. The benefits include:
Better security
The GlobalTRACS system lets you establish an electronic boundary or geo
fence around the equipment. Should a machine leave this area, you are
alerted automatically. By allowing you to quickly locate equipment, it can
save critical and valuable time in finding stolen machines.
Better maintenance
You can use the enginehour information to schedule preventive maintenance on
machines you may not physically see for days or weeks at a time. This can help reduce downtime and add to the machine’s useful life.
Also, knowing exactly where a machine is reduces the time spent by service
personnel locating the equipment for maintenance or transporting it back to
the shop.
Better use of equipment
Because the Global-TRACS system also keeps tabs on when equipment is running and when it’s not, you can use the information to move idle or underutilized machines to more productive sites.
In the future, other features could be added to this service, such as information about transmissions, hydraulics and other machne systems and diagnostic data to help prevent or repair malfunctions.
See your local Bobcat dealer today for more information about this state-of the-art service.
