Landscaper Digs in with Bobcat Track Loaders
Former Lawn Maintenance Company Transitions to Landscaping Juggernaut
Rather than simply maintain landscapes, a Davidson, N.C., company opted to create them with the help of versatile Bobcat® compact track loaders and attachments.
University Turf Management owner Charles Phetterplace attributes his landscaping company’s success to his versatile and dependable Bobcat equipment. “We install new sod, trees and irrigation systems,” Phetterplace says.
Customers know if they call Phetterplace, he’ll be on their jobsites the next day. Most of his customers are new home builders who appreciate the dependability Phetterplace’s landscaping company provides. They know his crews will get the job done on time.
Learning more about Bobcat machines and attachments wasn’t difficult for Phetterplace. A previous relationship with his lawn mower equipment salesman helped him discover more about compact machines. Soon afterwards, he began purchasing Bobcat compact track loaders and attachments from Bobcat of Charlotte.
Wet Conditions Won’t Stop Track LoadersRubber tracks were essential to Phetterplace and soon he was picking up business left and right. “When Bobcat introduced the first compact track loaders, I said, ‘We can work when it’s raining,’ and other companies couldn’t because they only had rubber tire machines,” he explains. “I’ve made good money with my Bobcat equipment. They pay for themselves quickly.”
Today, Phetterplace owns five Bobcat compact track loaders, including a K-Series T250, which he says is considerably quieter than his previous machines because of its SmartFAN™ cooling system. He says another important machine feature is the enclosed cab with air conditioning. “My operators can get out of the machine and they’re not dirty and dusty — it’s a better work environment for them.
In addition to the landscape rake, Phetterplace owns a combination bucket to grade, lift broken concrete and remove erosion control silt fence. A Bobcat sweeper attachment has become an invaluable attachment for removing dirt and debris from adjacent streets and sidewalks to comply with local building requirements.
In one of the fastest growing metro communities in the United States, Phetterplace is in step with builders and operating a successful landscaping company because of his Bobcat compact equipment. To learn more about the advantages of Bobcat compact track loaders, visit the product page.
