Operator Training for Bobcat Compact Tractors

The purpose of this course is to impart rules and practices for the safe operation of Bobcat compact tractors. After participating in the

  • course, trainees will be able to:
    • Discuss the importance of reading and following the instructions and warnings provided by the compact tractor safety signs (decals), the Operation & Maintenance Manual and the Operator’s Handbook.
    • Discuss the features and important characteristics of the compact tractor.
    • Explain loader lift capacity, three-point hitch lift capacity, maximum tow weight, maximum trailer hitch tongue weight and front/rear ballast.
    • Explain the importance of using the Rollover Protective Structure (ROPS)and the seat belt for operator restraint.
    • Explain why maintenance is an important factor for safe, efficient and productive operation.
    • Identify the controls and their functions.
    • Identify the compact tractor’s safety features and explain their importance.
    • Explain the proper procedure for safe entry and exit.
    • Explain the reason for changing loader arm attachments and the use of the Bob-Tach™ and pin-on coupler systems.
    • Explain the reason for changing three-point hitch implements and the use of the three-point hitch system.
    • Explain the safe and proper use of the Power Take-Off (PTO) systems.
    • Know the fundamentals of safe and efficient maneuvering, traveling, and working with the attachment and the implement.

      Short video reviewing important safety and operation concepts
    4. Group Exercise Two

    5. Designed to provide the trainee with several different types of instructor demonstrations that explain the daily inspection of the compact tractor, how to prepare for the job, and various tips to work safely and efficiently.
    6. Group Exercise Three
      1. Hands-on trainee exercises
      2. Critique each trainee and suggest ways to improve
    7. Review/Discussion
      1. Have trainees answer a series of review questions
      2. Discuss trainees’ responses
